Arkitu

Starting out as a platform to connect farmers and consumers in a better way at farmers markets, Arkitu has evolved into so much more than that. Arkitu has expanded into as a set of tools for farmer markets managers and food banks. The mission is still VERY focused on connecting consumers with the best, freshest food straight from the farmer. But we found that there are other verticals that are ready for the technology.

ShiftCode

Combing my love of technology and people, my partner and I started a small software development company, ShiftCode. Working as project major, I was in charge of customer engagement and project overview. My partner, Charlie was head the more “technical” side of bringing the customer ideas to life. After being interested in the more “technical” side, I started to teach my self PHP, MySql, Html, and CSS and built my first web app. You can check out ShiftCode’s portfolio here:

Sluggett Landscaping

Growing Sluggett Landscaping while finishing high school was quite a challenge. I remember days where I choose to wake up early and mow a few lawns before school because I didn’t have any other time. At the height of the business, Sluggett Landscaping had a weekly maintenance crew as well as an install crew. We did everything from tree trimming to new construction installs. We worked very long days but I learned A LOT about hard work and perseverance.

Internet Connectivity in Nicaragua

Seeing a need for wifi around a town that thrives on local activity and backpackers on my first trip to San Juan Del Sur, Nicaragua, I decided to do something about it. I came back to the states, started a job in construction, and bought all the equipment to set up town wide wifi in San Juan. Every day after work I would read and experiment with my new network equipment in order to design an adequate network to support users. Going back to Nica with a suitcase full of network equipment, I designed and installed the whole system. If you ever have a chance to start something in another country only knowing broken Spanish, DO IT!

My older brother and I would DJ everything from school dances to weddings and private parties. I have since been replaced by my dad who still offers services with my brother Jordan for Sluggett Productions.

Documentary On Sluggett’s “Dirty Toes” Debuts Friday

Just days away from turning 25, Cameron Sluggett doesn’t have his eyes set on a corner office in a high rise building. Actually his vision and drive are quite the opposite. Sluggett dances to the beat of his own drum, so much so that it has inspired childhood friends and filmmakers Soren and Eriksen Dickens to produce a documentary about him.

“Dirty Toes,” a documentary produced by Platinum Peek Productions will be released via You Tube this Friday, May 3. A film just barely 60 minutes in length, the brother duo has set out to show viewers not just another way to live, but perhaps inspire them to relook at their own lives.

“He definitely kind of marches to the beat of his own drum, that’s for sure,” Eriksen said of Sluggett…. READ MORE

From the community: Overcoming Obstacles to Help Local Farmers with Technology

Cameron Sluggett is anything but ordinary. He was diagnosed with cerebral palsy at a young age and bullied because of his speech impediment. Cam used this as fuel to turn his “disability” into an “ability” by using and understanding technology at a young age, due to his inability to write. In high school, Cameron started his own landscaping business and his own DJ business….READ MORE
